Artful AI Moves for Teaching Writing
As a teacher of writing during the last two years, you have probably experienced what Brett Vogelsinger describes as "a tilt-a-whirl of emotions" surrounding artificial intelligence as you grapple with academic integrity, ethical concerns, and your own hopes and fears. With AI already baked into so many tools, join an experienced, current classroom teacher in considering how our use of this technology can help students become more thoughtful and more artful about their work as writers rather than sidestepping the intellectual work that writing demands. Brett will share five low-prep lessons that you can adapt to your current writing assignments that keep human thinking at the center of students' writing. Additionally, he will share some emerging best practices in assignment design when we want students to stay away from AI altogether in their process. Participants will leave with use-tomorrow ideas and several concrete tools in a PDF collection to help you apply what you learn.
